Why Volunteer?
Volunteering for The Salvation Army means you can make a difference — not just in the lives of others, but in your own life journey as well. While the time volunteers dedicate help us to fulfill our commitment of providing support to those in need, many volunteers also find meaning for themselves in giving back, learning new skills and building connections in their community.
Uplift humanity, inspire hope and transform lives through the power of volunteering.
As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
How Can You Help?
The Edmonton Community Resource Centre is responsible for volunteer engagement and recruitment for Edmonton based Salvation Army ministry units. Individual and group opportunities are available! You can be part of the meaningful work that continues to help change lives. Below are some examples of the type of activities we need volunteer help with:
- Supportive Residences: Enrich the lives of adults and seniors living in The Salvation Army Supportive Residences by sharing your gifts of conversation, listening, hobbies, and supporting people to be involved in things they love to do.
- Food Security: Help ensure food security by volunteering in a Sharing Pantry, serving Community meals, a Kitchen or at special events.
- Special Events and Programs: Throughout the year, we host a variety of seasonal events and programs to raise awareness and funds and support community needs. Examples include: Christmas Kettle Campaign, Santa Shuffle, Back Pack Program, Community Block Parties, Christmas Distribution, Tax Clinic and more. Many of these events and programs are ideal Group Volunteer Opportunities.
- Office and Distribution Facility: We may need additional help at our CRC distribution facility. This could include sorting donated goods, work in our warehouse or general office work.
